Greetings Schoolcraft Elementary Families!
The day has arrived when we can FINALLY share a number of dates, times, and other exciting news about your 2023/2024 school year in your NEW elementary school! It's been an incredible two-year journey that is now only 14 days away! Please take note of these items, and make sure your neighbors and friends don't miss them either.
Our school was given "Staff Only - Temporary Occupancy" about a week ago and our teams have been excitedly working to set up these beautiful learning spaces. Full occupancy, which is required for students, is expected on Friday the 18th.
With the anticipation of full occupancy being granted late this week, we have scheduled our meet-the-teacher event in the new school! PreK-6 families are invited to meet their teachers, bring in their supplies, and tour the new school on Wednesday, August 23rd. To allow our teachers the ability to make positive first connections we families, we are dividing the event into two halves. Families with last names from A-M are invited from 5:30-6:15 PM. Families with last names from N-Z are invited from 6:15-7:00 PM. Families with conflicts during their designated time are encouraged to do what fits their busy schedules.
Teacher letters were mailed out the week of August 7th. If you did not receive a letter from your child's teacher, please call 269-488-7250 for assistance.
The 2023/2024 school year calendar is available on our website. We've linked it here for you as well. Just so you know, when you see orange 1/2 days on the calendar, our schedule this year will end at 11:30 on those designated days.
Student Arrival = 7:45 AM to 8:00 AM
Breakfast = 7:45 AM to 8:00 AM
1/2 Days = 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Full Days = 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
At SES, we love our volunteers. We are already recruiting CARE volunteers for the 23/24 school year. CARE stands for Community Assistants for Reading Enrichment. These volunteers are partnered with a PreK-6 classroom for the year and help small groups of students practice reading. CARE volunteers should be able to give roughly 1 hour, once a week if wanting to participate. CLICK HERE to express your interest. (If this doesn't work for you, be sure to speak to your child's teacher at the open house about other opportunities)
Drop-off and Pick-up will be a much more organized and supervised process at the new school. We know many are wondering what to expect and how to do it correctly. Fear not... a "how-to" video is in production. In short, it is a 1-way drive and if you, as the driver, leave your vehicle... you're doing it wrong. We have staff ready to go to help load and unload your children curb-side which will make the experience smooth and safe. All we ask is that you hang a school-provided tag on your rearview mirror at pickup so we can send you home with the correct children!
The address for the new school is 610 North 14th Street.
The phone number for the new school is still 269-488-7250.
The email for the office is el-office@schoolcraftcs.org
We're eager to see you next week! In the meantime, enjoy these remaining days of summer.
With great excitement,
Matt Webster and the Elementary Team
